Go Upside Down to Improve Your Kegel Muscles!

Kegel muscles are your pelvic floor muscles.  The pelvic floor muscles are the muscles that help support your internal organs, are part of your deep core, are important for urinary continence and improve sexual satisfaction.  However, the strength of these muscles are negatively effected by pregnancy (secondary to hormonal changes) and may be further injured by vaginal delivery.

It is important to work on the strength of the pelvic floor muscles during every stage of a woman's life from pre-natal to post-menopause. 

Performing inverted exercises, places the pelvic floor muscle in a position that improves the ability to improve contraction of the pelvic floor muscles. This is because the pelvic floor muscles are firing in a gravity assisted position.  In the inverted position, lowering the legs as a kegel exercise is performed will activate the pelvic floor muscles and deep abdominals - it is all about team work!
